The brutal attack occurred on November 2 in the 3200 block of East 80th Street, leaving residents deeply shaken and raising urgent concerns over dog control and public safety.

The incident unfolded when police responded to a distress call regarding a violent animal attack. Multiple dogs, reportedly running loose in the area, had converged on Culbertson while he was riding his bicycle along East 80th Street. Witnesses and responding officers described a horrific scene as Culbertson struggled in vain against the aggressive pack.

According to reports, a second victim, who remains unnamed, also reached out to the authorities, explaining she too had been attacked by the same group of dogs shortly before the fatal incident. The extent of her injuries has not been disclosed, though she survived the ordeal.

Culbertson, a construction worker remembered for his cheerful spirit and dedication to family, was rushed to an area hospital following the attack, but his injuries proved too severe. He succumbed to his wounds on Wednesday, November 6, despite extensive medical efforts to save his life.

The doctors who treated Culbertson reported over 300 dog bites and more than 500 stitches needed to address the injuries. In addition to the stitches, his body bore over 100 lacerations, with wounds described as devastatingly severe.
His sister, Angela Culbertson, reported that the dogs had ripped away portions of his face, including his cheek and chin, as well as causing extensive damage to his legs and feet.
