SAN ANTONIO – A tense situation unfolded Friday afternoon when Clark High School and nearby Locke Hill Elementary were placed on lockdown following reports of a suspicious individual seen in the school’s parking lot.
According to Northside ISD, the incident began around noon when a person was spotted near Clark High School and was believed to possibly be carrying a weapon. Out of caution, both campuses were immediately secured while NISD Police investigated.
Authorities later confirmed that no firearm was recovered from the individual or on campus grounds, and no shots were fired during the incident.
In a statement, Northside ISD explained that the person matching the report attempted to flee when confronted by police, leading to a brief pursuit. The individual was taken into custody shortly after, prompting the district to lift the lockdowns.
“Student and staff safety remains our highest priority,” the district assured parents in its release.
The San Antonio Police Department assisted NISD officers in handling the situation.
Both schools have since returned to normal operations, and district officials are working to provide support to students and families following the scare.
