Clovis Man Dies in Early Morning Motorcycle Crash at Grand and Gidding Streets

Authorities in Clovis, New Mexico, are investigating a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred early Friday morning at the intersection of Grand and Gidding Streets.

The crash was reported around 1:10 a.m., when Clovis Police Dispatch received a call about a motorcycle down with an injured rider. Responding officers and Clovis Fire Department EMS found a 2002 maroon Harley-Davidson lying on top of the rider in the left turn lane of the westbound traffic lanes.

The rider, 67-year-old Johnny Roberts, showed no signs of life at the scene. Emergency personnel immediately began life-saving measures and transported him to Plains Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The Clovis Police Department Crash Team is actively investigating the incident. Preliminary findings suggest it was a single-vehicle accident, with no evidence of another vehicle being involved.
