Duchesne, La. — Louisiana State Police say a Columbia woman was killed Wednesday evening in a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 561 near Duchesne Road.

Troopers identified the victim as 35-year-old Jana Holman. Investigators reported that just before 6:00 p.m. on September 17, 2025, Holman was driving a 2021 Chevrolet Trail Blazer northbound when, for reasons still under investigation, her vehicle crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a 2015 Kenworth commercial truck.
Holman, who was not wearing a seatbelt, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Kenworth, who was properly restrained, escaped injury.
State Police said impairment is being considered as a possible factor, and toxicology results are pending as part of the ongoing investigation.
Troopers used the tragedy to remind motorists about safe driving habits, stressing the dangers of alcohol and drug impairment, and the importance of always wearing a seatbelt.
“If you feel differently, you drive differently,” LSP said in a statement. “Alcohol, prescription drugs, and other substances impair reaction times, judgment, and motor skills — and not planning ahead can lead to deadly consequences.”
Authorities continue to urge drivers to remain sober, buckle up, and make safety a priority on Louisiana’s roads.
