MELBOURNE — The Connell family and wider community are grieving the sudden passing of Jeremy Connell, 49, who died alone in his Melbourne flat last week after a long battle with mental illness.
Jeremy, the middle son of well-known Christian leaders Mike and Joy Connell, is being remembered as a man of deep generosity and compassion who touched countless lives through his acts of kindness.
He leaves behind his wife, Laura, and five children.
“Jeremy showed such kindness to so many people over the years,” his father, Mike Connell, shared in a heartfelt statement online. “He gave very generously to solo parents, the homeless, and to those in prison. He was also the visionary behind my website, helping us make resources freely available online.”
The loss has left the Connell family devastated. “We all miss Jeremy so very much and are stunned and so very grieved by his loss,” the statement read.
A memorial service is planned to be held at Ascende Global Church on Saturday, August 31. The family has asked for continued prayers and support during this difficult time.
