Newport News is once again grappling with the aftermath of senseless violence after 19-year-old Nevaeh Harris was found shot inside a home early Tuesday morning, November 11. The tragedy has left a community reeling, as Nevaeh’s life, filled with promise and hope, was taken far too soon, leaving a void in the hearts of those who knew her.
At approximately 1:35 a.m., Newport News Police responded to a call about gunfire in the 3100 block of Warwick Boulevard. Upon arriving, they discovered Nevaeh inside a residence with a gunshot wound and immediately pronounced her dead at the scene. While the police investigation is still ongoing, officials have stated that the incident “appears to be domestic in nature,” with no arrests made thus far. Authorities also clarified that the incident does not appear to pose a wider threat to public safety.
