Fonthill, ON — The Fonthill community is mourning the unexpected loss of Francine Preskar, who tragically passed away in an accident on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the age of 53. Francine’s passing leaves a void for her family, friends, and the wider community who cherished her warmth, compassion, and unwavering dedication to others.

Francine passed peacefully at Hamilton General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was a devoted wife to Edward Preskar and a loving mother to their son, Alexander, who was the center of her life. Those close to her remember her as someone who nurtured, supported, and loved unconditionally.
Born to Amalija and Karl Preskar, Francine was a treasured daughter and sister to Lillian (married to Jesse) and Dave (married to Joyce). Her nieces and nephews—Cassidy, Hannah, Edyn, Bridger, and Lochlan—fondly recall her as a source of laughter, guidance, and encouragement. She was also deeply loved by her in-laws, including Ian and Anne Mole, David and Jessica Mole, and her brothers-in-law, Matthew and Andrew.
Francine’s compassion extended beyond her family. She had a special bond with her beloved dog, Zima, reflecting her lifelong love of animals. Professionally, Francine was a respected Registered Massage Therapist (RMT), known for her calming presence, empathy, and ability to comfort and uplift her patients. Clients often noted the positive impact she had on their lives and her unwavering dedication to her practice.
A Funeral Mass honoring Francine was held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at St. Alexander Catholic Church, 50 Pelham Town Square, Fonthill, followed by interment at Hillside Cemetery. Family, friends, and community members gathered to celebrate her life and legacy.
In tribute to her lifelong love of animals, donations in Francine Preskar’s memory are encouraged to be made to the Welland & District SPCA, reflecting her compassion and commitment to animal welfare.
Francine Preskar will be remembered as a loving mother, devoted wife, cherished daughter and sister, and a compassionate community member whose kindness touched the lives of all who knew her.
