Conroe Teen David Flores Identified as Victim in Fatal State Highway 242 Crash
The Conroe community is mourning the loss of 18-year-old David Flores, who tragically died following a violent single-vehicle crash late Sunday night on State Highway 242 near Artavia.

Emergency responders from the Caney Creek Fire Department were called to the scene around 10:33 p.m. after reports of a major rollover crash. When firefighters arrived, they found three people injured—one critically. A nurse who happened to be passing by was already performing CPR on Flores before medics transported him to Memorial Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands, where he was later pronounced dead.

Two other passengers, aged 15 and 19, sustained critical injuries and were also rushed to the hospital for treatment.

According to investigators, the crash occurred when the Chevrolet passenger car, traveling eastbound at a high speed, reportedly locked its brakes after passing the light at Artavia. The driver then lost control, causing the car to veer off the road, hit a culvert pipe, and roll several times—witnesses say up to seven.

A couple traveling westbound narrowly avoided being struck by the vehicle as it flipped across the roadway. Authorities confirmed that all three occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The wrecked car was removed by Saddle Creek crews, and the highway reopened around 1:30 a.m. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the cause of the deadly accident.

Friends, family, and members of the Conroe community have since expressed their heartbreak, remembering Flores as a kind and spirited young man whose life was cut short far too soon.
