Authorities in Cookeville, Tennessee, are investigating a deadly stabbing that claimed the life of a 40-year-old man early Saturday morning.
According to the Cookeville Police Department, officers responded around 2:14 a.m. on October 18, 2025, to reports of a stabbing on Miller Avenue. When they arrived, they found one adult male suffering from an apparent stab wound.
The victim, identified as 40-year-old Shawn Torres, was airlifted to a hospital in the Nashville area for emergency treatment. Despite medical efforts, Torres was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Police say the suspect, a 40-year-old female, was detained at the scene without incident and later interviewed by detectives. While investigators have confirmed that the two individuals knew each other, no charges have been filed as of now, pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
In a statement, the Cookeville Police Department extended its condolences to Torres’s family, saying, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Mr. Torres during this difficult time.”
