The Corpus Christi community is grieving the untimely death of 35-year-old Brodrick Johnson, who was fatally struck by a vehicle Monday morning on Saratoga Boulevard, the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed.
According to the Corpus Christi Police Department, officers responded around 4:49 a.m. to the 3900 block of Saratoga Boulevard after receiving reports of a pedestrian hit by a car. First responders found Johnson in the roadway and provided immediate medical care before transporting him to a nearby hospital. Despite their efforts, Johnson succumbed to his injuries, leaving family, friends, and neighbors in shock.

Investigators noted that Johnson was crossing outside of a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a westbound vehicle. The driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating fully with authorities.
Traffic in the area near Weber Road and Saratoga Boulevard was temporarily closed while the Corpus Christi Police Traffic Division conducted a detailed investigation and collected evidence. The roadway reopened at 8:30 a.m. after the scene was cleared.
Senior Officer Antonio Contreras highlighted the importance of pedestrian safety, urging residents to exercise caution when crossing streets, particularly in areas lacking crosswalks or pedestrian signals.
