The Stephenson County community is mourning the loss of 62-year-old Darcy Brunner, who tragically died in a car crash Saturday evening on Illinois Route 26.
According to the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office, the collision occurred between Oneco Road and Winslow Road, prompting an immediate emergency response. Brunner sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Freeport Coroner’s Office was called in to assist, and law enforcement temporarily closed the roadway while investigating. Rt. 26 has since reopened.
