David L. Brown, Sr., a beloved resident of Rossville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at the age of 88. David’s lifelong commitment to his faith and family, along with his deep involvement in the South Rossville Baptist Church, has left an enduring legacy in the community.
David’s connection with South Rossville Baptist Church began at the age of 2, where he became an active member for 86 years. Over the decades, he served the church in several important roles, including as a Deacon, Sunday School Director, and even as an interim Choir Director. His dedication to his faith and his family was evident in everything he did, and he was deeply loved by all who knew him.

In his professional life, David retired after 35 years with Combustion Engineering, where he contributed greatly to his field. Additionally, David proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged as a Lance Corporal. His military service was a source of pride, and his commitment to his country mirrored his dedication to his faith and family.
Beyond his work and faith, David was an avid fisherman, known for his love of the outdoors and for going on deep-sea fishing trips with family and friends. In later years, he enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and spending time outdoors with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, often seen playing ball in his front yard.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll and Gladys Brown, and his brother and sister-in-law, William (Bill) and JoAnn Brown. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Sara Crush Brown, along with their sons, David (Vickie) Brown and Eddie (Patty) Brown. He is also survived by his grandsons, Stephen (Amber) Brown and Daniel (Tricia) Brown, as well as his great-grandchildren, Elijah, Maddie, Sutton, and Willa Brown. Additionally, he leaves behind a brother, Donny (Polly) Brown; a sister, Lynda (David) Matthews; and several bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, on Monday, November 17, 2025, at 3 p.m. with Reverend Eddy Rushing and Reverend Joe Callahan officiating. Following the service, David will be laid to rest at Tennessee Georgia Memorial Park in Rossville. Pallbearers will include his grandsons and family members.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, November 16, 2025, from 2-5 p.m.
