The Westminster community is mourning the loss of 68-year-old David Lewis Dickson, who tragically died Saturday afternoon following a two-vehicle crash just west of town.
The Oconee County Coroner’s Office confirmed the crash occurred around 12:45 p.m. at the intersection of US 76/Long Creek Highway and Coffee Road. Emergency crews were called to the scene after receiving reports of a collision between two pickup trucks.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Mr. Dickson was driving a 1990 Chevrolet pickup truck and had slowed to turn onto Coffee Road when his vehicle was struck from behind by a 2015 Ford pickup truck traveling in the same direction. Despite being transported to Oconee Memorial Hospital, Mr. Dickson succumbed to blunt force traumatic injuries at 1:37 p.m. The driver of the Ford truck was unharmed.
The Oconee County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as David Lewis Dickson of Westminster, classifying his death as accidental.
Mr. Dickson’s passing has left his family, friends, and the wider Westminster community devastated. He will be remembered for his kindness and the positive impact he had on those around him.
