DAYTONA BEACH, FL — The Daytona Beach Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday morning, leaving 23-year-old Anthony Chrun dead after an altercation reportedly escalated into gunfire.
At approximately 1:09 a.m. on November 2, officers responded to reports of a shooting near Goodall Avenue and South Grandview Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered Chrun unconscious in the front seat of his vehicle. Officers immediately began life-saving efforts until emergency medical personnel arrived, but Chrun was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the suspected shooter was located and detained shortly after the incident. While the individual’s name has not been released, investigators have confirmed that all parties involved have been identified. The department is working closely with the State Attorney’s Office to determine the next steps as the case proceeds.
Preliminary findings suggest the victim and suspect were involved in an altercation at a nearby bar earlier that night, which later led to the deadly confrontation. The shooter was released pending further review by prosecutors.
Authorities emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the public, though the investigation remains active. Detectives are continuing to collect witness statements, review surveillance footage, and reconstruct the events leading up to the shooting.
