St. Louis, MO — A shooting at St. Louis Lambert International Airport’s Terminal 1 early Friday morning left one person dead, according to local reports. The incident occurred around 1 a.m. and involved airport police. Authorities confirmed that the suspect was shot during the encounter and later died from their injuries. Fortunately, no other injuries have been reported.
A crime scene was established near the American Airlines ticketing counter inside the terminal. In response to the situation, Lambert Airport took to social media, announcing the closure of the Terminal 1 MetroLink station. Passengers are being redirected to Terminal 2, with shuttles provided at the upper level, Door 2. Pickup services at Terminal 1 have also been moved to Door 6 on the upper level.

The shooting coincides with the start of the busy holiday travel season, with TSA officials expecting over 19,700 passengers to pass through St. Louis security checkpoints on Friday. Several airlines, including Air Canada, Alaska, American, Cape Air, Delta, Frontier, Sun Country, Spirit, and United, operate out of Terminal 1.
