Authorities are investigating a shocking string of shootings that spanned from Sugar Land to southwest Houston on Thursday afternoon, leaving three victims and the suspect dead. The violent rampage, which unfolded across multiple locations within just over an hour, has shaken both communities.
Among the victims was Hector Vasquez, a respected mechanic who tragically lost his life while working at his auto repair shop in Houston.

According to police, the series of events began around 12:30 p.m. near Dairy Ashford Road and U.S. Highway 90 in Sugar Land, where officers responded to reports of gunfire following what appeared to be a road rage incident. A woman was found inside her vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite being rushed to the hospital, she was later pronounced dead. The suspect fled in a gray Ford Escape, triggering a citywide search.
Roughly an hour later, around 1:30 p.m., Houston police were called to a mechanic shop near Fondren Road and Main Street after another shooting was reported. Witnesses told investigators that a man driving a vehicle matching the Sugar Land suspect’s description argued with a mechanic before opening fire, killing him instantly. When another man attempted to record the confrontation, the suspect turned the gun on him, fatally shooting him as well.
One of the victims was later identified as Hector Vasquez, remembered by coworkers and customers as a hardworking, kindhearted man who took pride in helping others.
A short time later, police located the gray Ford Escape near the 8000 block of Creekbend Drive. When officers approached, they found the suspect dead inside from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Authorities confirmed that all three shootings were connected and are believed to have been carried out by the same individual. Investigators are still working to determine the suspect’s identity and what may have triggered the deadly outburst.
Police emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the public but urged anyone with information about the case to come forward.
