DECATUR, Ala. — Heartbreak rippled through Decatur and Athens over the weekend following the tragic death of Tavoras Antwan Coffman, 40, who lost his life in a fatal car crash early Saturday morning.

According to the Decatur Police Department, the wreck occurred at approximately 6:24 a.m. at the intersection of Beltline Road SW and Carridale Street SW. Emergency responders, including Decatur Police, Decatur Fire, and EMS, arrived swiftly at the scene, where they discovered two vehicles heavily damaged from the impact.
Despite the efforts of first responders, Coffman was tragically pronounced dead at the scene by Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn. His passenger sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital for emergency care. The driver of the second vehicle involved was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
