
DES MOINES – A 42-year-old Des Moines woman is behind bars after police say she violated a court-issued protective order in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Stephanie Charisse Berry was arrested at 1:08 a.m. on November 30, 2025, and booked into the Polk County Jail on one count of Domestic Abuse Assault – Violation of No-Contact/Protective Order, a serious misdemeanor under Iowa Code 708.2A(2).
According to booking records, Berry’s cash-only bond was set at $300. She remained in custody Sunday evening awaiting her initial appearance before a Polk County magistrate.
Des Moines Police have not released details about the circumstances of the alleged violation or the identity of the protected party.
Violations of protective orders are prosecuted aggressively in Iowa, with penalties that can include up to one year in jail and fines of $650–$1,875 upon conviction. Repeat offenses can escalate to felony charges.
