DETROIT, Mich. — Detroit police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred late Sunday near 8 Mile and Cherrylawn on the city’s west side.
Officers responding to the scene discovered a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to preliminary reports, the victim had just exited his vehicle when an unknown suspect opened fire. Surveillance footage from the area shows a vehicle parked in the middle of the street near where the shooting took place, though investigators have not confirmed its connection to the incident.
At this time, authorities have not released information on the suspect or a possible motive.
