Emergency crews were dispatched just after 2 a.m. Sunday to the 1800 block of Landis Road in East Donegal Township, according to Lancaster County emergency dispatch. Responders found a heavily damaged vehicle that had veered off the roadway. The driver, identified as 17-year-old Joey Williams, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have confirmed that no other vehicles were involved, and the Susquehanna Regional Police Department continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
A Student-Athlete Remembered for His Spirit and Leadership
Joey was more than just a student; he was a cornerstone of the Donegal High School basketball program and a friend to many. Teammates described him as the kind of player who lifted everyone around him — a motivator with a smile that could brighten the toughest practices.
“Joey was the energy of our team,” a teammate shared. “He made us laugh, encouraged us to work harder, and had a way of making everyone feel important.”
