Dothan, Alabama — The community of Dothan is grieving the heartbreaking loss of 23-year-old Bobby Lee David Mircle Lucas, who tragically lost his life during a shooting early Sunday morning at a private event in Pike County.
According to the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 12:30 a.m. on October 5, 2025, following reports of gunfire at Hideaways, an event venue on Gardner Bassett Road. Authorities estimate that between 300 and 350 people were in attendance at the large private gathering when chaos erupted.
Witnesses say Bobby attempted to flee amid the panic but collapsed near the front door, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Pike County Sheriff Russell Thomas described the incident as both heartbreaking and preventable, calling for stronger safety measures at large private gatherings.
“It’s tragic to see a young man lose his life over something that could have been avoided,” Thomas said.
Family and friends are remembering Bobby as a joyful, caring, and hardworking young man whose kindness and bright spirit touched everyone who knew him. His warm smile, positive energy, and generosity made a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to call him a friend.
As investigators continue to gather details and identify those responsible, the Dothan and Pike County communities have come together in shared grief and remembrance. Vigils and memorial tributes are being organized to honor Bobby’s life and legacy.
Rest in peace, Bobby Lee David Mircle Lucas — gone far too soon, but forever remembered for the love and light he brought to others.
