Two people were fatally shot and a third was hospitalized after a shooting Thursday afternoon at the Lago Grande apartment complex in Hialeah, officials report. The incident unfolded around 3 p.m. in the 2500–2700 block of West 67th Place, sending shockwaves through the community.
Hialeah Police and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue rushed to the scene following reports of gunfire, where they discovered three adult victims inside the building, all suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the swift response from emergency personnel, two of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

A third individual, whose connection to the shooting is unclear, was airlifted to a local hospital by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. Authorities have not revealed the person’s condition, nor whether they were involved in the incident or were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Hialeah Police spokesperson Lt. Eddie Rodriguez confirmed the tragic deaths but emphasized that the investigation is still in its early stages. Detectives are working to uncover the motive behind the attack and are actively gathering evidence, interviewing potential witnesses, and reviewing any surveillance footage that may provide clues.
“We are in the process of collecting critical information, and it’s too early to determine the full scope of what led to this incident,” Lt. Rodriguez stated from the scene.
The apartment complex, a gated community situated near West 28th Avenue, was cordoned off by police as detectives meticulously examined the area. The atmosphere around the complex was one of disbelief, with many residents reporting that they hadn’t heard any prior disturbances before the violence erupted.
Residents of Lago Grande expressed surprise and concern, as the normally quiet community had never experienced such a violent incident. “It’s shocking, especially because nothing seemed off earlier in the day,” one resident said, requesting anonymity. “We’ve always felt safe here.”
