Dr. Michael J. Pucci, a distinguished minimally invasive gastrointestinal and hepatopancreatobiliary surgeon from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has passed away. The circumstances surrounding his death have not been disclosed.

Dr. Pucci was an Associate Professor of Surgery at Sidney Kimmel Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University. He co-directed the Advanced Gastrointestinal Surgery Fellowship and led undergraduate education within the department.
He specialized in complex pancreaticobiliary diseases, upper gastrointestinal tract disorders and gallbladder operation safety. Dr. Pucci authored numerous peer-reviewed papers, book chapters and edited surgical textbooks. He presented nationally and internationally.
Dr. Pucci served on institutional and national committees, reviewed surgical journals and mentored students, residents and fellows in research and clinical skills.
He grew up outside Philadelphia and lived in the city with his wife, Dr. Talar Tatarian, a talented surgeon, their two children and French bulldog, Oliver.
