A tragic accident in Spartanburg County has claimed the life of 42-year-old Le’moriell Williams of Duncan, South Carolina, following a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP), the fatal incident occurred around 2:40 a.m. on SC Highway 101 near Old Woodruff Road. Investigators say a sedan traveling southbound went off the left side of the roadway, hit a ditch, and overturned.
Emergency responders arrived to find the driver — later identified as Williams — deceased at the scene. He was the only occupant in the vehicle.
The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office has confirmed Williams’s identity and stated that a forensic examination will be conducted on Monday to determine the exact cause of death.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway. Factors such as speed, fatigue, or impairment are being examined as possible contributors.
Community members in Duncan are mourning Williams’s sudden passing, describing it as a heartbreaking loss. Officials are urging motorists to remain vigilant, especially during overnight travel when visibility and alertness are often reduced.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is asking anyone with information related to the crash to contact investigators as they work to piece together what led to the deadly accident.
