A 21-year-old man, Bailey Crowhurst, has been sentenced to prison following a series of violent incidents, including a knife-wielding robbery at a shop in East Grinstead and a disturbance at a petrol station that left staff and customers terrified.
The court heard that Crowhurst stormed into a local shop around 8:45 a.m., armed with a large knife, and threatened to cut off the hands of a shop worker during the robbery. The victim was left shaken but uninjured as Crowhurst fled the scene.

Detectives quickly launched an investigation, reviewing CCTV footage that clearly identified Crowhurst as the suspect.
In a separate incident, Crowhurst was involved in a violent altercation inside a petrol station, where he threw several wine bottles at another man and caused significant damage to the store.
Following his arrest, police described Crowhurst as a serious danger to the public.
Detective Constable Conor Burgess commented:
“Crowhurst’s actions showed he is a danger to the public of serious violence, and he was a priority for arrest after being identified as a suspect. We were determined to ensure this dangerous offender was caught, and we are pleased that he is now serving a significant custodial sentence.”
Crowhurst has since been jailed for his crimes, bringing relief to the local community shaken by his violent behavior.
