A tragic incident occurred in southern Illinois on Election Day when Illinois Second Judicial Circuit Court Judge Michael J. Valentine was found fatally shot outside his home in Albion. His wife, 44-year-old Megan S. Valentine, was arrested at the scene and later charged with first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated discharge of a firearm, and aggravated domestic battery.
The Edwards County Sheriff’s Office responded to the call at approximately 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday and requested the Illinois State Police to lead the investigation due to the nature of the case. After a thorough investigation, the Illinois State’s Attorney Appellate Prosecutor’s Office filed the charges against Megan Valentine on Thursday.
Megan Valentine is currently being held at the White County Jail, with her first court appearance scheduled for Friday morning.
