A 21-year-old man, Elijah W. Hummel, from Groton, was killed in a motorcycle crash on Fort Hill Road early Friday. Police responded to the scene at around 12:45 a.m. and found Hummel with serious injuries after he lost control of his 2024 Kawasaki motorcycle while speeding westbound.
The motorcycle crossed into the eastbound lane and struck an unoccupied Jeep Cherokee parked near a pizza shop. Hummel was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital but later died from his injuries. Police are continuing to investigate the crash and ask any witnesses to come forward.
