Washita County, OK – Authorities have identified William Rosebrook, 60, of Elk City, as the victim of a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred Monday afternoon, September 22, 2025, on westbound Interstate 40.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP), the crash happened around 1:10 p.m. near Mile Marker 48. Rosebrook was driving a semi-truck when the vehicle veered off the roadway to the left, struck a cable barrier, and overturned onto the driver’s side.

Rosebrook, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Authorities confirmed that his next of kin had been notified prior to the release of the crash report.
The OHP is continuing to investigate the incident to determine potential contributing factors, including road conditions and vehicle control. Officials are also using the tragedy to remind motorists of the importance of seat belt use, particularly for drivers of large vehicles.
