A memorial service honoring his life was held on October 14, 2025, at New Montefiore Cemetery in West Babylon, New York. He is lovingly remembered by his parents, Fariba and Mehrdad Zar, his siblings James Zar and Kimberly Bloorian (Zar), as well as countless friends, colleagues, and clients who were deeply inspired by his wisdom and generosity.

Born in 1989, Sebastian — affectionately known as Seb — built an extraordinary career that blended legal expertise with a genuine passion for music and creativity. A graduate of Syracuse University College of Law, he discovered early on that his calling lay at the crossroads of law and artistry. During his studies, he began managing emerging musicians, sparking a lifelong mission to protect and elevate creative voices.
By the age of 26, he had founded his own law firm, representing independent artists and producers determined to control their artistic and financial destinies. His innovative approach to entertainment law quickly gained attention, earning him a prominent role at Sedlmayr, a leading entertainment law firm. There, he represented high-profile clients including Post Malone and Pusha T, solidifying his reputation as one of the brightest legal minds in the industry.
Zar was known not only for his strategic brilliance but also for his advocacy for artist independence and financial literacy in the streaming era. “In the streaming age, a lot of these young artists don’t want a label deal,” he once said. “I’m willing to put on as many hats as necessary to get them to where they want to be.”
Scholar, Leader, and Innovator
Before law school, Sebastian earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Seton Hall University, where he held numerous leadership roles. His dynamic presence was evident early on—he served as President and Co-Founder of the Jewish Student Union, President of the St. Thomas More Pre-Law Society, and held leadership positions across multiple student organizations and honor societies.
At Syracuse University College of Law, he continued to lead with purpose as a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity and as a representative for the Entertainment and Sports Law Society, mentoring peers and building bridges between aspiring lawyers and creative professionals.

Beyond his remarkable achievements, Sebastian will be remembered for his empathy, humor, and boundless generosity. To his friends and clients, he was more than a lawyer—he was a confidant, a champion, and a believer in the power of dreams. Colleagues describe him as a man who approached every deal with both intellect and compassion.

Funeral and Shiva Details
The levaya (funeral service) for Mr. Sebastian Zar (Eliyahou Moshe Ben Avraham z”l) took place today at 1:30 p.m. at New Montefiore Cemetery, Property 3, 4th Avenue and Maimonides Section.
The Zar family will receive visitors for shiva beginning Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Shaare Shalom, followed by Mincha and Arvit services.
