UNION TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A tragic two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon claimed the life of a 50-year-old woman and left a 67-year-old man injured, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP).
The collision occurred around 3:18 p.m. near mile marker 27 on U.S. Route 250, close to the Harrison County line. Investigators say a 2003 Cadillac DeVille traveling westbound crossed the center line and struck a 2024 Toyota Tacoma head-on.

The force of the impact pushed the Toyota off the roadway, where it struck a guardrail and overturned on top of the barrier. The Cadillac’s driver was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office. The Toyota’s driver was transported to Mercy Hospital with injuries. Authorities confirmed both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
Preliminary findings suggest drugs may have been a contributing factor in the collision, though the investigation remains ongoing.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office, Dennison Fire Department, Smith Ambulance, Countryside Towing, D & S Towing, and the Ohio Department of Transportation, which assisted with road closures and traffic control.
Troopers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
