LIBERTY CITY, Texas — A devastating tragedy unfolded Monday afternoon at Hugh Camp Memorial Park, where a father and his teenage daughter were fatally shot in what authorities describe as a targeted attack.
The victims have been identified as Shawn Glen Blake, 49, and his daughter, Hailey Nicole Blake, 16. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

A third individual, Christopher Wayne Hicks Jr., reported to be Hailey’s boyfriend, was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Authorities believe his wounds were self-inflicted.
The Gregg County Sheriff’s Office responded to the shooting alongside Christus EMS and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers. Two off-duty first responders at the park also attempted to provide emergency aid to the victims.
Chief Deputy Craig Harrington confirmed the shooting was deliberate and emphasized that no additional injuries occurred.
Investigators are now working to piece together the events that led to the attack. Authorities are urging anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident to contact the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office as the investigation continues.
