Fayetteville Community Mourns the Loss of Chong Hwa Otis in Fatal Collision
The Fayetteville community is deeply saddened by the tragic death of 69-year-old Chong Hwa Otis, who passed away following a two-vehicle crash on Thursday afternoon. The collision occurred around 1:42 PM on Bragg Boulevard near the I-295 off-ramp, prompting a swift response from local police, EMS, and fire crews.

According to the Fayetteville Police Department, the crash involved a white 2025 Chevrolet Silverado traveling south on Bragg Blvd and a grey 2007 Mercury Grand Marquis exiting I-295 northbound. Investigators revealed that Mrs. Otis was driving the Grand Marquis when the vehicles collided. Despite immediate lifesaving efforts, she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Her family has been notified, and the community is rallying in support, sending heartfelt prayers to those who knew and loved her.

The driver of the Silverado, 58-year-old Wilton Allen Nickerson from Stedman, was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for medical treatment. His current condition has not been made public.

The Fayetteville Police Department’s Traffic Unit is leading the investigation, gathering evidence from the scene, reviewing vehicle positions, and speaking with witnesses to piece together the events leading up to the crash.
