Circumstances Surrounding His Death
According to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched just before noon on September 10 to the 14000 block of State Route 698 after receiving a report of self-harm threats.
When they arrived, they found Officer Schimmoeller deceased in his vehicle in a nearby field. Investigators said the preliminary findings indicate his death was self-inflicted, and no foul play is suspected.

Schimmoeller dedicated more than 29 years to the Findlay Police Department.
