DISNEY VILLAGE, PARIS — A symphony of planned joy and an unexpected security incident collided Monday at Disneyland Paris, creating a tense scene of confusion after fireworks were mistaken for gunfire near a park entrance.
The incident began in the early evening when loud bangs from a scheduled fireworks display echoed near a security checkpoint at Disney Village. The timing coincided precisely with what authorities later confirmed was an attempted security breach at the same location. This confluence of events caused immediate and widespread alarm.

Visitors described a sudden, frantic reaction. “The bangs were sharp, and then everyone just started running,” said Elara Jensen, a guest from Copenhagen. “People were diving into shops, and you could hear children crying. The word ‘gunman’ spread in whispers.” Social media flooded with panicked posts and videos showing crowds surging away from the area, with some emergency exits flapping open automatically under the pressure.
Park security and local Gendarmerie mobilized within minutes in a large-scale response, conducting rapid sweeps of Disney Village and adjacent areas.
