CINCINNATI, OH — A shooting in the heart of downtown Cincinnati left two people injured, including a juvenile, on Monday night near the city’s iconic Fountain Square, authorities confirmed.
According to Cincinnati police, the incident occurred outside CityBird, a popular restaurant located in the bustling Fountain Square area, shortly after nightfall. Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots followed by chaos as bystanders ran for cover in the normally lively downtown plaza.

Emergency crews quickly responded to the scene, providing aid to two victims — one adult and one juvenile — who were both suffering from gunshot wounds. They were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. As of early Tuesday, both victims were reported to be in stable condition, though their identities have not been released.
The area around Fountain Square was temporarily cordoned off as detectives collected evidence and interviewed witnesses. Police have not yet announced any arrests or identified a suspect but say the shooting appears to have been a targeted incident rather than a random act of violence.
Cincinnati Police Chief Teresa Theetge urged anyone with information or video footage from the area to come forward to assist in the investigation. “This incident took place in one of the busiest parts of our city,” Theetge said. “We are asking members of the public who may have seen or heard anything to contact us immediately.”
The shooting shocked many residents and visitors, as Fountain Square is known as a central gathering spot for families, workers, and tourists. The square frequently hosts concerts, skating events, and community gatherings, making the incident particularly concerning for local leaders and businesses.
City officials have since emphasized their commitment to public safety and increased police presence downtown as investigations continue.
