The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a tragic crash that claimed the life of 17-year-old Ethan M. Heath of Laurel early Sunday morning, September 28, 2025. The fatal accident occurred along State Road 1 near Blooming Grove.

Authorities said deputies and emergency crews from the Blooming Grove Fire Department were dispatched to the 14000 block of State Road 1 at around 4:30 a.m. Responders found Heath inside the vehicle, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary reports indicate Heath’s vehicle was traveling northbound when, for reasons still under investigation, it veered off the east side of the roadway. The vehicle struck a culvert and driveway, went airborne, and rolled several times before coming to a stop.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department is leading the investigation with support from the Blooming Grove Fire Department, the Franklin County Coroner’s Office, the Brookville Police Department, and the Indiana State Excise Police.
Further details, including the cause of the crash, remain under review as authorities work to determine what led to the tragic accident.
