
The Fresno community is mourning the loss of 24-year-old Faustino Mancilla, who was tragically shot and killed on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
According to police reports, Southwest officers were dispatched around 6:45 p.m. to the area of Poppy Avenue and California Avenue after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found Mancilla suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite immediate efforts by paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say the shooting occurred during a gathering at a local residence. Detectives determined that Mancilla became involved in an argument with another individual shortly before the fatal shooting. Authorities are still working to identify the suspect and establish a motive.
This incident marks the 17th homicide in Fresno in 2025, a decrease from 26 murders at this time last year.
