GALVESTON, Texas — A devastating tragedy has left a Galveston family and community in shock after 34-year-old Tiamoya Deshondra Moore was shot and killed Thursday evening in what police describe as a domestic incident.

According to the Galveston Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire around 7:49 p.m. on September 11, 2025, in the 5100 block of Avenue Q. When they arrived, they found Moore suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency responders from Galveston EMS rushed her to the UTMB Emergency Room, but despite efforts by medical staff, she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Teen Daughter in Custody
Investigators said witnesses identified Moore’s 16-year-old daughter, Niyah, as the suspected shooter. In a startling development, police reported that the teen returned to the scene while investigators were still gathering evidence. She was taken into custody, and officers recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the shooting.
