Authorities are investigating the tragic shooting that claimed the life of 17-year-old Saleh Ghasan Humaid, a Germantown High School student, over the weekend in Jackson.
The incident happened Friday, September 19, around 9:25 p.m. near Sunnyvale Drive and Sandalwood Place, close to a soccer complex, an elementary school, and an indoor basketball center. Capitol Police confirmed Humaid’s identity on Saturday.

Family members told WLBT that Humaid was a student at Germantown High School in Gluckstadt, where he was known as a bright and promising young man.
At this time, investigators have not identified any suspects, and no arrests have been announced. The case remains under active investigation.
