Greenville Police Release Name of Teen Fatally Shot at Sonic Drive-In as James Sutton
The Greenville community is in mourning following the tragic death of 17-year-old James Sutton, who was fatally shot Tuesday night at the Sonic Drive-In located on Highway 82 East. The shooting occurred around 8:00 p.m., prompting an immediate response from the Greenville Police Department.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered James Sutton and a black female victim, both of whom had sustained gunshot wounds. The female victim was rushed to Delta Health in critical condition and later airlifted to another medical facility for further treatment. Sadly, James Sutton was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses reported that the suspects’ vehicle, described as a dark-colored pickup truck, fled the area at a high rate of speed immediately after the shooting. Authorities are actively searching the surrounding area for evidence and pursuing leads to identify those responsible for the shooting.
