Groton, CT – The Groton community is grieving the sudden loss of Chad Fleming, a dedicated teacher, basketball coach, and mentor whose passing has left a profound void among his family, friends, students, and colleagues.
Fleming devoted his life to education and youth development, serving as a teacher at Groton Middle School, where he was widely admired not only for his knowledge but also for his compassion, humor, and unwavering support for his students. Former students recall him as a teacher who always listened, encouraged, and believed in them, no matter the challenges they faced.

Beyond the classroom, Fleming’s passion for coaching shaped countless young athletes. He was instrumental in founding the Groton/Mystic Basketball Club (GMB), helping to establish its framework and dedicating countless hours to its growth.
