GROVES, Texas — The Groves community is mourning the loss of Kayla Renee Adaway, a devoted mother, daughter, and sister, who passed away early Saturday, September 6, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 39.

Born in November 1985, Kayla was raised in a loving, supportive family that shaped her generosity, compassion, and unwavering strength. Friends and loved ones describe her as resilient and graceful, facing her illness with courage that inspired everyone around her.
Her family remembers her as “one of the strongest women” they had ever known. Despite her struggles, Kayla remained focused on her children’s well-being, ensuring they always felt love, stability, and guidance.

“At 1:47 a.m., Kayla took her last breath and went to Heaven. She fought until she just couldn’t anymore. We made her a promise to take care of her kids like they were our own, and that’s exactly what we will do. Life is going to be different… it’s going to be hard for these kids, her mom and dad, her siblings, and the rest of her family. Please keep them all in your prayers.”
