LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — Authorities in Gwinnett County are probing a tragic, domestic-related case after two individuals were found dead inside a residence Wednesday morning in what appears to be a murder-suicide.
Officials say that around 9:41 a.m., police responded to reports of a shooting in the 600 block of Clearwater Place in Lawrenceville. Upon arrival, officers discovered both a man and a woman deceased in a bedroom. A firearm was recovered at the scene.

The female victim has been identified as Rachel Free, described by those who knew her as a loving mother and caring friend.
Investigators believe the incident was contained and involved no unknown suspects. Gwinnett Police issued statements indicating they are not seeking additional persons in connection with the deaths.
Friends say that Free had recently decided to move out and end a long-term relationship. On the morning of the incident, she had reportedly secured a new place to live and was preparing to start a new chapter in her life.
Law enforcement sources suggest the male in the home fatally shot Free and then turned the weapon on himself.
Authorities have not released the identity of the male victim, and it remains unclear if others were in the home when the tragedy occurred.
Gwinnett County’s Medical Examiner has been called in to assist in the investigation.
Neighbors described the event as shocking and heartbreaking, emphasizing the sense of loss in a community that had viewed Rachel Free as a kind and devoted presence.
