Investigators say 50-year-old Kristi C. King, of Hackleburg, was driving a 2014 Jeep Wrangler when her vehicle collided head-on with a 2025 Kia Soul. Prior to the deadly impact, the Kia had reportedly been struck by a 2012 Jeep Wrangler, sparking a chain-reaction crash that ended tragically.

King, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Kia Soul’s driver was transported to Russellville Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries, while the driver of the 2012 Jeep escaped unharmed.

Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate the cause of the collision.

The Hackleburg community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Kristi King, remembered by those who knew her as a compassionate, kind-hearted woman whose warmth and generosity touched many lives.
