Hamshire-Fannett Community Grieves Loss of 18-Year-Old Jayleigh Danielle Moralez

The Hamshire-Fannett and Fannett communities are mourning the tragic passing of Jayleigh Danielle Moralez, an 18-year-old senior at Hamshire-Fannett High School who died on Sunday.

Jayleigh was remembered as a vibrant young woman whose kindness, laughter, and positive spirit touched countless lives. Friends, classmates, and teammates described her as a true light—someone who brought joy to every room and left lasting memories through her smile and presence.

A talented athlete, Jayleigh served as the catcher for the Hamshire-Fannett Varsity Softball Team, where she was celebrated for her leadership, determination, and compassion. Her teammates and coaches recalled her courage on the field and her warmth off it, calling her “the true spirit of what it means to be a Ladyhorn.”

Tributes have poured in from across the community. The Hamshire-Fannett Athletic Booster Club honored her as not just a standout player, but as a friend and leader whose impact will never be forgotten. The Gladiators Softball program also shared their grief, writing, “Jayleigh will forever be a part of our GladFam and will always be with us. #68 ♥️⚔️💙”

As family, friends, and community members grieve, many have turned to faith and remembrance to honor her short but meaningful life. A Meal Train has also been organized to support the Moralez family during this difficult time.

Jayleigh Danielle Moralez will be remembered as more than an athlete—she was a beloved daughter, teammate, and friend whose legacy of love and light will live on in all who knew her.
