The victims, 50-year-old Sofia Torres and 53-year-old Alfredo M. Torres, were discovered at their home on the 6000 block of FM Highway 1122 after deputies responded to a report of a domestic disturbance around 5 p.m., the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Alfredo Torres may have fatally shot his wife inside the residence before taking his own life in a nearby barn. Deputies arriving at the scene found both individuals with apparent gunshot wounds.

Officials noted that deputies had previously responded to the property once before, in 2020, for a domestic-related call, but there was no ongoing pattern of disturbances at the address.

The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy and urged anyone with relevant information to come forward.
