According to Vermont authorities, O’Neil was driving south in his Toyota RAV4 when it collided head-on with a northbound pickup truck driven by Joseph Petrone, 77. The crash was so severe that O’Neil was pronounced dead at the scene despite rapid response from emergency crews.
