
The Oakville and Belleville hockey communities are mourning the loss of 12-year-old Melody Xu, a talented player with the Oakville Hornets Hockey Association, who tragically passed away on November 6, 2025, following a devastating accident. Melody, a beloved teammate, daughter, and sister, died after the accident left her and her mother critically injured. Despite efforts to save her, Melody succumbed to her injuries, leaving her family, friends, and teammates in deep sorrow.
Melody was known for her bright personality, hard work, and positive influence on and off the ice. Her coaches and teammates remember her as a passionate player who loved the game and always brought joy to those around her. “Melody was an incredible teammate, always encouraging others and lifting their spirits,” said one coach. “Her talent and her heart were unmatched.”
In the wake of this tragic loss, the Xu family is facing not only the grief of losing their daughter but also the financial strain of medical bills, funeral expenses, and ongoing care for Melody’s recovering mother.
