Authorities in Hollister, California, are investigating a shooting that occurred Saturday evening, October 18, 2025, near the intersection of Sunnyslope Road and Valley View Road. The incident left one person injured and prompted a large police response as detectives worked late into the night to piece together what happened.
According to Sgt. Chris Wells of the Hollister Police Department, officers were called to the scene around 7:22 p.m. following reports of gunfire in the area. By the time police arrived, the victim had already driven themselves to Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital for treatment. The individual was later airlifted to another medical facility for further care. Their current condition remains undisclosed.
Wells noted that the investigation is still in its early stages, and no arrests have been made. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity or any information about possible suspects or motives behind the shooting.
“We do not know the motivation behind the shooting,” Sgt. Wells said. “Detectives are still working on it.”
Police temporarily closed sections of Sunnyslope Road, Valley View Road, and Sunset Drive on Saturday night to allow investigators to process the scene and to make way for the medical helicopter’s landing and takeoff. The affected roads have since been reopened to traffic.
Hollister police are urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward as the investigation continues.
