NAPOLEONVILLE, LA — The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested 36-year-old Markus M.D. Stadium of Houma on serious felony charges after investigators determined that an infirmed individual had been deliberately burned while under his care.
According to Sheriff Leland Falcon, the investigation began on October 6, 2025, when a local healthcare facility contacted authorities to report a potential case of abuse involving a vulnerable patient.

Initial reports suggested the victim’s injuries were the result of wasp stings, but family members became suspicious after noticing the frequency and severity of the wounds. Upon further examination, medical staff concluded that the injuries were consistent with burns, not insect bites.
Detectives launched a full investigation and soon obtained electronic evidence linking Stadium—who was employed as a healthcare attendant—to the abuse. Investigators allege that Stadium used a barbecue grill lighter to inflict burns on the patient during multiple incidents.
Following the findings, detectives secured an arrest warrant, and on Tuesday, Stadium surrendered himself at the Assumption Parish Detention Center, where he was booked on one count of Cruelty to the Infirmed.
He remains behind bars with his bond set at $1,000,000 as the investigation continues.
